The streets of Northport were alive with paws, music, and a whole lot of canine charisma at this year’s Northport Dog Parade, held under blue skies and with a record turnout of both two- and four-legged participants.
From the moment the parade began, the creativity and dedication on display left organizers and onlookers alike in awe.
Costumes ranged from classic rock icons to hilarious puns and inventive floats, with every dog and handler showcasing their own unique spin on the event’s musical theme. The judges—faced with the nearly impossible task of picking favorites—had their hands full as they watched wave after wave of tail-wagging performers strut their stuff.
Among this year’s memorable winners, the coveted David Chrobak OG Award and the title of Grand Champion both went to the act “Run Pug,” featuring Finn, Lucy, and Ziggy, whose commitment to pug-powered rock brought down the house. Other standouts included Nelson as “Little Willie Nelson,” Tacho and their young companion as “Ziggy Stardust,” and the dynamic duo Charlie & Carlito channeling “Martha Stewart & Snoop Dog.”
Floats and vehicles were just as creative, with Walter’s Dune Buggy earning Best Vehicle or Float. Archie’s “Junk Yard Jam Band” took home Best Use of Material, while the Furriest Group award went to Mikko and team #147. Musical talent was on full display, too, with Chewy, Maia, and Jor’s “Hot Dogs in Paradise” awarded Best Original Song.
For those who love a good pun, Diego, Elphaba, Enzo, and Franklin’s “Famous Rock Stars” were crowned the Pun-niest, and Jovi’s tribute to ABBA won Best Foreign Rock Band.
Behind the scenes, a generous lineup of local businesses— including The Cove, The Cook’s House, Faro, and more—donated prizes, ensuring the winners went home with more than just bragging rights. Their support, along with the enthusiasm of every dog, owner, costume designer, musician, and parade-goer, made this year’s event unforgettable.
