Before renovations at the Leelanau VFW Post 7731 hall move into their final phase, community members will have a chance to step inside the updated space, enjoy free ice cream and see the progress made on the decades old building.
“We wanted people to see how things are going, and also to let them know that we’re still in need of support fundraising,” said Linda Mikowski, wife of Post Commander Greg Mikowski, is helping to organize the event with a committee of VFW members.
The VFW will host an open house and ice cream social on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. The event will be open to all members of the larger community and will include free ice cream, a silent auction and a raffle drawing for a gift basket. All proceeds from the event will support the ongoing renovation project.
