Crocker responds to accusations

After not being able to make a comment regarding an exclusive story last week ‘Dyer breaks silence: The Full Interview’ due to elections Leelanau County Clerk Michelle Crocker had this to say about accusations.

“My focus, and the focus of the Clerk’s Office, is serving the residents of Leelanau County and carrying out the duties entrusted to us by law. Over the years, county officials have not always agreed on every operational or administrative issue, but reasonable people can hold different views about how best to address county business,” Crocker said in an email response. “I am proud of the dedicated work performed by the employees of the Clerk’s Office and our commitment to professionalism, transparency, and public service. We continue to work with county leadership, departments, and the Board to improve processes and ensure county operations are conducted effectively and responsibly.”

Former Leelanau County Administrator Jim Dyer’s separation was made official last month as the county and him agreed to a nearly $70,000 payout to end the relationship.
