It’s another fun and busy week in and around Omena. This afternoon at 4 p.m, Jennifer Sager will be at Dog Ears Books in Northport to talk about her book, Steph’s Story. It is about her sister with Down Syndrome and her journey to finding independence.
This Saturday is the Opening Reception for the Northport Arts Association’s (NAA) Harbor of Creativity Invitational Exhibit. The event goes from 5 to 7 p.m. The featured artists are Scott Cain, Mark Mehaffey, Laura Miller, Barbara Waddell, and Betsy Winters.
Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. is an Ice Cream Social at VFW Post 7731 in Lake Leelanau. It is an event that is near and dear to my heart because it is about the renovations being done there to make it handicap accessible. Ever since my stroke in 2015, I have either been unable to attend events there, or have had to count on having four strong people to get me up the multiple steps in my wheelchair. It is especially fitting that a place to honor our veterans should be accessible.
