To the editor:
Letters to the editor and comments at BOC meetings show that some believe, or hope, that the issues that have created the current mess in county government over many years are gone and the county can now move forward. I sincerely hope this is true, but I am concerned that the underlying issues have not been resolved.
Recall that the county has had numerous county administrators, HR directors, and finance directors since 2021, and there were claims of a toxic work environment and improper decisions from officials who departed county government in early 2000s. There was also the Rehman auditor report in 2023 on financial management problems in the government, and scathing findings from an employee climate survey the same year. Mr. Dyer did not start as county administrator until March 2025.
