To the editor:
“Levying war against the United States” or “ADHERING TO THEIR ENEMIES, GIVING THEM AID AND COMFORT” is the definition of TREASON in the US Constitution. Might Iran’s refusal to come to terms with American military power spring from their belief that they have tens of millions of hidden allies within America who secretly and perfidiously “adhere to them” (against their own country!) and “give them aid and comfort”? Is Iranian reticence to concede defeat because the mid-terms approach and the Mullahs pray that Trump’s political enemies (as opposed to loyal opposition) will regain political power and end their torment? Seditious politicians like Elissa Slotkin and Mark Kelly, among many others, will readily undermine the President and our men and women in uniform. Traitors all, in my opinion - willing to see that brutal 7th century theocracy survive to continue subjugating the Iranian people - as they themselves lust for power. After all, what is liberating Iranian women from Islamic barbarity (while defanging a nuclear threat to every American) compared to controlling the public plunder? A small price to pay, I suppose, for what they crave more than life itself, driven by the insatiable urge not to lead, but to rule. So let’s hope that in Leelanau County every heart beats true under red, white, and blue and that Tehran has no friends north of M-72. Paraphrasing Cecil Rhodes, “Remember that you are an (American) and have consequently won first prize in the lottery of life”.
