The Omena Historical Society (OHS) Annual meeting is this Sunday at 4 p.m. at Sunset Lodge. This year the OHS is celebrating 20 years in the Putnam Cloud Tower House in downtown Omena. The Northport Community Band returns to the Northport Performing Arts Center (NPAC) auditorium on Saturday, August 29 at 7:30 p.m. for their traditional end of summer concert. The performance will feature a variety of music from a variety of genres - plus, of course, a little Sousa. Get your tickets now for one of the most popular events of the summer! Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 students Pre-K – college, and free for Northport Public School students and residents of Northport Highlands.
The ice cream social fundraiser at the VFW Little Finger Post 7731 in Lake Leelanau this past Sunday was well attended and a lot of fun. Many thanks to the organizers and volunteers, and to the local businesses who contributed items to the silent auction. The fundraising is for major renovations to the building, with a primary goal of making it accessible. Phase three is the next step and will include an elevator from the parking lot level. I am definitely looking forward to this.
