BLOTTER: Illegal camping near Sleeping Bear Trail.

Wednesday, Aug. 12

11:07 a.m. — Bingham Township — Caller owns property that has a pole barn on it. Multiple signs have been stolen. Does not need to see a deputy. Just wants it noted for the record.

12:59 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Caller needs an officer to come. Someone broke into home last night.

4:31 p.m. — Leland Township — Individual making threats.

Thursday, Aug. 13

12:49 a.m. — Leland Township — Neighbors to the north or somewhere in the area are playing very loud music. Would like them to turn it down. Caller called back and advised that the music has stopped.

4:40 a.m. — Bingham Township — Male is outside caller’s window. Not making much sense Seems very confused and lost. (Subject was taken into custody for operating while intoxicated.)

Friday, Aug. 14

1:51 a.m.— Bingham Township —Deputy came across a possible motor vehicle crash. Sobriety tests administered. Subject arrested for operating while intoxicated.

10 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Caller would like to know if it’s legal to remove neighbor’s property that she puts on his side of the property line.

1:34 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Lincoln Town Car, older model, swerving all over the road, into the bike path behind vehicle. Will observe driving. Followed through Peshawbestown to Dumas.

4:11 p.m. — Kasson Township — Silver Kia sedan swerving eastbound on M-72. Stop made. Driver was “just driving a little distracted.”

10:43 p.m. — Leland Township — Caller reports a large party. Over 100 people there and more keep showing up. Very loud. (They will be quieting down for the night, per law enforcement.)

Saturday, Aug. 15

11:52 a.m. — Leland Township — White 4-door Tundra with Texas plates solicited caller to do work on his driveway. Just wants it noted they are going around.

1:27 a.m. — Leland Township — Subject is not being disorderly right now, but has history and is inside the building. Caller is outside the building and all other employees have been evacuated. (Law enforcement spoke with general manager. Employee was just fired, was terminated and left. No crime.)

5:54 p.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Child in green Jeep. Doesn’t seem to be in distress. Possibly two or three months old. Caller was told it has been 15-20 minutes. Two windows open but vehicle is not running. Owner of the vehicle came back. (Made contact with occupants of Jeep. They were eating at a picnic table near the car. Baby is fine.)

6:09 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Younger Hispanic male with shaved head northbound on TART Trail on bike. Gas station would like to have him trespassed. (City will have him in custody.)

6:19 p.m. — Leland Township — Black Landrover Discovery parked right in front of business. Golden Retriever. Unknown how long it’s been there. Panting and slobbering and window cracked three inches. (Caller called back and advised she has gained access to the vehicle and is feeding the dog ice.)

8:46 p.m. — Kasson Township — Caller reports someone stole four packs of Pullup/diapers totaling $90. (This was a mix-up and a misunderstanding. Caller believes they got it figured out.)

9:49 p.m. — Centerville Township — Red Toyota on sobrieties. One in custody for operating while intoxicated.

10:32 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township— Wife has been drinking and acting crazy. Male has left for the night. Female will stay at the house.

Sunday, Aug. 16

12:35 a.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Party going on at this location. Caller asked them to quiet down and they have not. (Contact made with party down at the beach. They advised when they come back up they will keep it down.)

2:37 a.m. —Suttons Bay Township — Caller is reporting people on the beach; in the water being very loud/partying.

2:50 a.m. — Elmwood Township — Black Acura on sobrieties. Arrested for operating while intoxicated.

3:05 a.m. —Solon Township — Caller was awakened by her neighbors across the street, fighting. It sounds pretty bad. Caller thinks they should be checked on. (Female very intoxicated. Parties settled down and they should be good for the night, per law enforcement.)

6:10 a.m. — Centerville Township — Law enforcement checks out white Jeep. Illegal camping.

6:40 a.m. — Cleveland Township — Law enforcement out with an occupied vehicle. Illegal camping.

7:50 a.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Illegal camping near Sleeping Bear Trail.

2:15 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Caller reports drunk and disorderly person in her driveway. Screaming and hollering.

4:11 p.m. — Leland Township — Black Honda CR-V threw trash out the window in front of caller’s car. Turned south on S. Lake Leelanau Drive. Trash bounced off the hood of caller’s vehicle but did not cause damage.

6:31 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Neighbor accused caller’s wife of looking in his windows. Got in shouting match. Subject took off into woods behind the building. (Both parties were advised on the steps for acquiring a personal protection order.)

7:11 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Two males on motorcycles pulled into a business. One of the drivers is clearly intoxicated. Drove into oncoming traffic.

10:26 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Bartender at Apache Trout Grill reports that a couple was sitting at the bar. The husband threw a glass at her and another patron observed the husband grab her by the wrist. Female and male both exited the building. They believe they are still on the property. (Subjects no longer at the scene, per law enforcement.)

10:47 p.m. — Glen Arbor Township — Subaru tucked back into the woods and it has been there for some time. Darkcolored Subaru with a kayak on top. It’s backed in so caller can’t get a plate yet. Looks like there’s one person in the car. (Rangers woke up the individual in the car. A citation for illegal camping was issued. Information provided about where he can camp.)

Monday, Aug. 17

10:09 a.m. — Elmwood Township— Dogs across the street had previously entered caller’s property and one of them killed some chickens. Last night the same dog came onto property and was sniffing around the coop. This morning, the other dog came into property and got chased off by caller’s dog.

3:42 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Golf cart illegally parked.

Tuesday, Aug. 18

8:18 a.m. — Bingham Township — Caller is receiving threats.

12:26 p.m. — Bingham Township — Caller said neighbor has tree cutting going on. Damaged caller’s fence.

12:43 p.m. — Bingham Township — Motor vehicle crash. Vehicle pulled out in front of a semi. Driver couldn’t stop.

1:12 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Assault and battery.

6:12 p.m. — Empire Township — Domestic.

10:12 p.m. — Bingham Township — Loud music. Caller would like them to quiet down.

11:02 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Domestic.
