To the editor:
I support the YFC right to assemble but I agree with the Planning Commission’s decision that the central business district in downtown Leland is not the place for it. I was interested to see the ZBA outcome and prepared to live with whatever decision was delivered. Apparently that was not enough for the money man behind YFC. Now he is suing the very township in which he lives and wants to start the YFC club. This is an example of someone with really big money coming into Leland and deciding he knows what this town needs more that the long time residents do. He and his oh so impressive high powered attorney are confident they can force the township “back in the kiddy pool.” Leland has attracted a lot of families with a lot of money for many years. For generations those families respected Leland for just what it is. Sadly that is clearly not the case with YFC. No respect for the government or the citizens. All in the name of Christianity. Seems oddly contradictory to me.
