A better Bingham

To the editor:

I’d like to thank all residents that came out in support of a blight ordinance for Bingham Township. I’d also like to thank the Leelanau Enterprise for coming to the meeting to report on it. They wrote a fair and accurate follow-up article in the paper. It’s worth reading a couple times.

One of the most telling aspects of the meeting was when one resident asked for a show of hands of those who support a blight ordinance. Everyone in the audience raised their hands while not a single board member did. It clearly shows that the board prefers to take the safe route (do nothing) rather than tackle the tough job required by a governmental body. Clearly we have our work cut out for us.
