To the editor:
It’s easier to do business with friends than with someone antagonistic toward you. Common sense. However, our president is alienating friends with threats, tariffs and insults (calling Canada the 51st state and its leader a “governor”). Mark Carney, Canada’s prime minister, got a standing ovation at the World Economic Forum when he challenged Trump’s policies. Too many former friends are bristling with anger, like Carney, at Mr. T. This trade war won’t make America “Great” again. It will alienate friends and add to the cost of living.
Trump points fingers, calls people names, takes credit where it isn’t due, and makes empty promises. He promised to end the Ukrainian war in one day, reduce inflation, cut energy prices (how about that cost of gas?!!), build a border wall that Mexico paid for, start no foreign wars. The list goes on and the national debt goes up. This guy went bankrupt six times. He’s good at it. Once, maybe twice, is forgivable in business. Six times means he’s cheating the system and everyone for his own gain.
