Leelanau Montessori Public School Academy students are set to return to the classroom after Labor Day, on Sept. 8, and teachers and staff are eager to welcome back both new and familiar faces.
Montessori is adding three new staff members to its growing community this year, which include a new toddler assistant working with children between the ages of one and three-yearsold; a new primary assistant working with children between the ages of three and six-yearsold; and a new aftercare director, Clairrissa McNair.
This year, the school has also introduced the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) for the first time. The program is part of the universal Pre-K program, and allows the school to offer free tuition for enrolled four-year-old students. The school was previously tuitionbased for three and four-yearolds in the youth program, but this year will allow four-yearolds to attend their program for free. Approximately 12 students are enrolled in the GSRP program, which Head of School Laura Piskor said is great to see.
