After Forget Me Not Florist was bought out by The Flower Station earlier this year, the location moved from Adams Street to Fourth Street, located in the plaza in front of Hansen’s.
The Flower Station has operated in Traverse City for 50 years as current owners Dan Rohe and Meghan Wells took over the reins two years ago.
“We’ve had lots of requests over the last 2.5 years that we’ve been here to deliver to serve all over Leelanau County. Everything from Northport to Glen Arbor and everything in between,” Rohe said. “It’s a really good fit for us. Suttons Bay, Northport, Leland, and all of the cities to be able to be served out of Suttons Bay. This will be convenient for everyone. (Leelanau County) has been on our radar for the last couple years.”
The Flower Station has been around since 1973 and officially cut the ribbon on the new Suttons Bay location last week, Wednesday, August 26.

Roe and Wells acquired former flower shop Forget Me Not in April and were planning on opening in that space located in the back of Poppy Things in downtown Suttons Bay. After much thought, they made a decision to find a different place and found that building, open and vacant.
“The space is really wide open and there’s a lot of room for things that we don’t have room for in Traverse City including classes and special events. We’re also able to do a lot larger production on our end. We’ve moved a lot of our wedding setup prep to Suttons Bay. ” Meagan said.
The flower shop moved in early June and had a soft opening in late June before official cutting the ribbon last week.
Roe and Wells became the third owners of the Flower Station going on three years.
They are the first owners to grow a branch from its iconic yellow building on West Front Street in Traverse City.
“The clientele and the customers in Suttons Bay have been very warm and very welcoming. It’s been a very positive experience with all of the people that we’ve met and that we’ve had interactions with,” Rohe said.
The Flower Station is focused on diving head first into wedding along with every day and yearly events like birthdays and anniversaries.
“We just felt that our team is incredibly talented, creative, and work so well.
Last summer, we were in a spot to be able to take on more weddings and larger special events,” Meagan said. “We’re increasing that. We’re doing it in a controlled way.
We are only to take two at a time. Our staff could probably handle more, but we like to keep that creativity.
The new shop’s hours — 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday — have brought in different foot traffic than Forget Me Not’s old spot near the marina.
