Fundraiser to launch for ‘Michigan Geological Discovery Center’
Northport Trading Post owners’ Scot and Jennifer Wack have big plans for the future of their business and the Leelanau community.
The family-owned rock shop opened in 2020 and has evolved into something the couple says they never expected. The Wacks said as the years have gone by, they’ve noticed more and more people wanting to learn. Whether it be interest in understanding where the stones came from, how Michigan itself was formed, or where to rock hunt and how to polish what they find, the inquiries led the Wacks to think of a bigger vision and something they call “The Michigan Geological Discovery Center” at Northport Trading Post.
