Grand Traverse Musicale will present a program featuring The No Excuses String Ensemble. Come join the fun on Thursday, September 10, at 2 p.m.
The No Excuses String Ensemble will present music from the late Baroque era, performing with Cheryl Knight, harpsichord. All these pieces were written at approximately the same time. Two Italian composers are featured: Francesco Manfredini, and Antonio Vivaldi. Works by German composers J.S. Bach, and Georg Telemann will be presented and those two knew and admired one another during their lifetimes. Of special note is the humorous Don Quixote Suite by Telemann, based upon the story of Cervantes. Other pieces include Manfredini’s Christmas Concerto, the Bach Concerto in d minor for harpsichord, and Vivaldi’s Symphony Alla Rustica.
Student scholarship winners will display their talents as well. See the program at Mission Hill Church (formerly First Congregational Church) 6105 Center Road Traverse City, MI 49686. Please enter through the South Entrance of the church.
