Like most residents in Leelanau County, I look forward to receiving the Enterprise weekly and getting familiar with local events and the people who make up this beautiful piece of paradise. Having had the honor of serving as County Administrator for almost 11 years, I am naturally interested in recent articles and editorials about our local county government.
I frequently receive inquiries from people asking for my opinion on these articles and editorials. My standard response is usually, “It’s not my circus and not my monkeys” (an old Polish proverb), and I typically do not comment since I have not been involved in the decision-making process.
I do, however, feel the need to make a historical clarification regarding the editorial that appeared in the August 20 edition. That piece referenced the 2012 employee survey and concluded by stating, “Little to nothing has been done to date to address the weaknesses identified in the two surveys conducted 12 years apart.”
