It was a perfect day for the 13th Annual Omena Labor Day Bridge Walk across Bob’s Brook at the home of John and Lee Putnam. The number of Bridge Walkers this year topped the previous record by half again, with about 90 people in attendance. Bridge walkers were treated to an amazing culinary feast of Thai fried rice and spring rolls, all prepared for that huge crowd by Lee. There was also an assortment of pastries and other sweets brought by some of the walkers, both homemade and from local establishments.

John added a new feature to the event with the singing of This Land Is Your Land. The sing-along was led by Scott Heiser on guitar, and vocalists Cathy Stephenson and Kanda McKee. John even added a new verse that he had written.

When the sun came shining, as I was strolling, The cherries swinging, and the sweet corn boiling, I saw Omena, and she was calling This land was made for you and me.
