A local educator is being recognized for her more than two decades of creative work with her students and community.
Northport Public School Art Teacher Jen Evans has been selected for the 2027 Michigan Art Education Association (MAEA) Secondary Art Educator of the Year Award. Evans will receive the award at the upcoming MAEA fall conference in Port Huron on Nov. 6, where she will speak at the event.
Evans, who has worked as an art educator for the last 21 years, said the recognition is incredibly meaningful, and feels less like something that belongs solely to her, but rather, an award for Northport.
