The Lakers girls basketball (12-4 10-0 NWC) is finding its groove with three wins over the past week.
Glen Lake started by defeating Benzie Central last Wednesday 53-31 as senior Eleanor Valkner led with 22 points, 11 rebounds.
Laker freshmen Lydia Fosmore added another 13 points, four rebounds, and Jessie Pugh had 12 points, eight rebounds, and five steals.
The Huskies were led by Flora Zickert with 13 points; Kara Johnson with 10 points.
The Lakers turned around and defeated Frankfort 45-37 on Friday night as the Lakers kept the Panthers at bay on the road.
Glen Lake was led by Pugh and Fosmore with 13 points each, while Valkner tallied 11 points on the night.
The Lakers finished a strong week with a 64-20 victory over Suttons Bay on Monday. Valkner had another strong performance with a 25-point, 10 rebound double-double. Fosmore and Pugh scored 12 and 10 points, respectively. Glen Lake senior Ava Raymond, and junior Hailey Anderson each had six points.
Suttons Bay senior Lauren Lint gave all she had for the Norse with 13 points.
Glen Lake hosts Leland on Friday, and Suttons Bay traveled to Buckley at 7 p.m.
GL BOYS DOMINATE FRANKFORT
Glen Lake boys basketball (11-3) also had themselves a week as the Lakers dominated conference foe Frankfort (10-6) on Friday night 57-30.
Glen Lake didn’t waste any time on the road as the Lakers jumped out to a 17-9 lead after the first quarter. The Lakers would go into halftime up 27-13. Glen Lake began to run away with the game after shutting the Panthers down in the third quarter, allowing only seven points to Frankfort.
Glen Lake had three scorers in double figures as Jacob Plamonon led with 15 points; Dylan Cundiff and Benji Allen each had 10 points.
Laker senior Gage Baker also contributed seven points on the night.
The Lakers played Leland on Tuesday and won 70-25. Plamondon had 15 points, eight rebounds, while Allen and sophomore Colebrook Sutherland each had 10 points.
