Sleeping Bear Forever (formerly Preserve Historic Sleeping Bear) was awarded a $75,000 capacity building grant from the National Park Foundation (NPF) to strengthen its organization and expand its impact in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
This grant investment will assist Sleeping Bear Forever in building critical organizational infrastructure and strengthening philanthropic capabilities and donor stewardship through staffing, engaging a professional consultant, and donor engagement tools. These efforts will increase our impact in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore by expanding visitor programming and building the foundation to implement a bold, transformational plan for historic properties that will leverage sustainable philanthropy.
“Receiving support from the National Park Foundation is particularly meaningful, and an incredible vote of confidence in our vision for the future of the resources in Sleeping Bear Dunes,” said Sleeping Bear Forever Executive Director Susan Pocklington. “Their investment recognizes the importance of preserving Sleeping Bear’s rich collection of historic places, landscapes, and stories while creating meaningful opportunities for people to connect with them. Together, we’re ensuring that these special places continue to inspire and educate generations to come.”This grant is part of a $5 million investment by NPF to bolster 77 park partners across the country. It’s NPF’s largest investment in park partner capacity to-date and reflects the growing importance of park partners in supporting national parks through fundraising, program management, volunteer coordination, park infrastructure, and other critical functions.
