As drainage problems arise across Leelanau County, the county board declined to make a motion to fund damage in the Lake Bluffs Drainage District.
“They don’t want to establish precedent,” said Kristy Burns, a Lake Bluffs resident and candidate for drainage commissioner. “We are still in limbo and nothing has been decided ... Right now, we are better at draining our money than draining our water.”
The Lake Bluffs drainage district’s budget is only a few thousand dollars, but they expect upwards of $40,000 in repairs caused by drainage issues.
