Fall sports in Leelanau County are entering the crucial month of October, with plenty of teams competing for conference championships and preparing for the postseason just weeks away.

Comets down Rams
Leland forwards Cooper Burda and Carter Suttmann combined for two goals in a 2-0 win over Harbor Springs Saturday.
Chase Falcon and goalkeeper Edgar Hernandez Mosqueda assisted on the goals, and Mosqueda had three saves on the day.
Leland (8-4-2) faces Glen Lake at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday for their second meeting of the season. Leland won the first game 3-0.
Leland defeated Suttons Bay 6-1 Wednesday as Levi Ulbrich scored a hat trick. Suttons Bay senior Jose Roman scored the lone Norse goal in the loss.
Forton shutout earns Laker win over Boyne City
Glen Lake defeated Boyne City Friday as Anthony Forton earned a big-time shutout with seven saves.
Laker senior Sawyer Homa scored the lone goal off an Oliver Toomey assist.
Glen Lake had five shots on goal compared to four from the Ramblers.
The Lakers defeated Benzie Central Wednesday 5-1 as Baxter Homa led with two goals and Sawyer Homa had three assists. Forton had five saves in the win.
Rayders defeat Norse
Charlevoix knocked off Suttons Bay in a high-scoring affair Friday, 4-3. Suttons Bay senior Isaac Martin broke the single-season school record in goals scored during the game.

Comets defeat Eagles
Leland volleyball defeated Lake Leelanau St. Mary 3-1 (22-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-14) Friday, Sept. 25, as Sophya Luther led with 10 kills, 12 digs, 8 aces and a block.
Comet stats: Ruby Popp 12 kills, 3 aces, 7 digs; Harmony Johncox 24 assists, 5 digs; Aubrey Rousseau 7 digs.
The Comets and Eagles travel to Brethren Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. for a quad meet.

Glen Lake volleyball continued its winning ways Thursday, Sept. 24, defeating Kalkaska in straight sets, 25-16, 25-23, 25-19
Avery Flores led the Lakers with 11 kills, 3 aces and 3 blocks.

Lakers win Elk Rapids Invitational lol
Glen Lake boys cross country won the Elk Rapids Invitational Wednesday, Sept. 23, as Spencer McNitt and Abraham Feeney finished first and second in 17:05 and 17:09.
Christian Feeney finished fifth, Lincoln Bailey seventh, and Dean McKellar finished 10th, rounding out an excellent day for the Lakers.
Glen Lake freshman Avyrie Ottenbacher finished second, leading the Lakers girls team to an overall win. Alyse Cox finished fourth, and Ellie Wright finished ninth, rounding out the competition.
Grinage competes at Veterans Serving Veterans Invite
Leland junior Sophie Grinage ran her best race of the season, finishing second in the D1-2 race, with a time of 18:55.
The finish moved her up to sixth in the current D4 state rankings.
Grinage was the lone Comet runner competing in the race.
Cadillac senior Ella Mclnerney and Leland junior Sophie Grinage battle in the Veterans Serving Veterans cross country race Saturday.
