‘Democratic socialist’

To the editor:

Election season is upon us, and many of us will be voting for our favorite democratic socialists - a phenomenon I cannot understand. The term “democratic socialist” is an oxymoron. Socialism doesn’t favor democracy; it favors government control - the opposite of democracy.

You don’t need a PhD in world history to know that there has never been a single successful socialist country on this entire planet. Not one. Ever. History’s most famous socialists are Mao Tse Tung and Josef Stalin.
