The Northport Arts Association (NAA) is celebrating 10 years in the community with the opening of a special members’ exhibit, Shape, Form & Light, set for Saturday, Oct. 3.
Sheen Watkins, NAA board of directors president, said as someone who has been very much involved with the organization as a member since its inception in 2016, she’s watched the nonprofit continue to thrive and energize year after year.
“If you look at what we did in 2017 versus what we did this year, it just continues to evolve and morph and change, but throughout all of its changes, we bring artists along with us,” Watkins said. “The offerings that we have change as a result of the needs in the community and what we see in the community. Initially, it was all about art and the artists and sharing the work, but it’s also now about art education, it is about developing artists and being a place for the community to come together, whether you appreciate art, whether you’re learning art, or whether you’re established in a skill set and trying something new — it really is a place of inspiration.”
