A recall campaign against the chair of the Leelanau County Board of Commissioners, William J. Bunek, is now underway. The recall effort stems from an unsuccessful attempt Bunek made earlier this month to reduce to zero a voterapproved millage that supports an early childhood services program based on Bunek’s publicly stated belief that voters were wrong to approve the millage in 2019. *** The Fishtown Preservation Society (FPS) returned the Otherside Shanty back to its home on the Leland River Wednesday. It was lifted out of danger from the high water of Lake Michigan on December 3, 2020, after sustaining extensive damage when the Great Lakes water levels were at a recordbreaking levels.
