Candidates for Empire Village President, village trustee and township trustee fielded questions on taxes, housing, short term rentals and more on Sept. 21 evening candidate forum organized by the League of Women Voters (LWV) of Leelanau County.
Current village trustees Tom Rademacher and Meg Walton are facing off for village president, while Sam Barr and Sue Palmer are competing for a village trustee seat.
Rademacher has served eight years as village trustee and spent his career as an environmental health sanitarian, including time with the Benzie Leelanau County Health Department.
