To the editor:
Merging the Administrator and CFO positions, as reported by the Enterprise, is a positive step towards addressing the organizational instability caused by the May 2021 Board vote. While some may question the timing or reasoning behind the merger, it offers a clearer line of responsibility and accountability for financial planning and administration. Since December 2022, Deb Allen has provided effective leadership under challenging circumstances. The collective decision by her and the Board to pursue a new leader with the abilities required for this hybrid position deserves respect.
Moving forward, the Board must prioritize candidates with proven leadership, fiscal responsibility, and the ability to seamlessly bridge administrative and financial functions. Only with careful consideration of qualifi ed candidates and transparent community engagement can we truly restore stability and efficiency to County administration and financial management.
