To the editor:
I attended the Leelanau Voting Commission’s public meeting to demonstrate how voting machines are tested to ensure that our votes are tabulated accurately and securely. The process is mandated by state law. The security and integrity of voting is controlled and mandated by state law. Michelle Crocker, Leelanau County Clerk, is one of the most experienced and dutiful clerks in the State of Michigan. Voting in Michigan, and all states for that matter, has been demonstrated to be secure. There is no widespread voter fraud in any jurisdiction in the United States, no matter what conspiracies people might think up. The 2020 election was demonstrated to be the most secure in U.S. history. In a joint statement, members of the Election Infrastructure Government Coordinating Council, Assistant Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the National Secretaries of State, and others called the 2020 election the “most secure in American history”. These organizations were under the umbrella of the Trump Administration’s Department of Homeland Security. I think the Leelanau Board of County Commissioners has given reasonable time and respect to those who think otherwise. It’s time to move on to focus on relevant county business.
