Suttons Bay native looks ‘Beyond the National Parks’

Suttons Bay native Ren Brabenec explores more than 240 sites managed by the National Park Service in his new illustrated book “Beyond the National Parks.”

The 184-page book introduces readers to destinations across all 50 states and Washington DC, including battlefields, lakeshores, monuments and recreation areas.

“The National Park Service actually manages over 400 individual NPS park sites that are federally designated park sites. Of those 400, only 63 of them have the capital N capital P designation as a National Park,” Brabenec explained.
