Next steps and plans for Leelanau Township’s new library were the center of discussion at a recent meeting that drew interest from dozens of community members.
The Friends of Leelanau Township Library held its general meeting on Sept. 30, where current library board of trustees members, such as treasurer Rick Gans, presented information and answered questions regarding the library’s history and future plans to purchase and eventually relocate to the Northport Pub and Grille (NPG) property, a larger space identified to better suit its needs.
In recent months, library board members have been working to raise funds, approximately $1.2 million, to buy NPG, and plan to continue fundraising after meeting their goal in order to pay for additional costs for the redesign and remodeling phase of the building.
