To the editor:
Large corporations and PACs have spent $120 million ads for Mike Rogers, portraying Abdul El-Sayed as dangerous, radical, and unstable. The truth is that El-Sayed, who has accepted $0 in PAC or corporate interest donations, is campaigning for health care for all Michiganians, getting money out of politics, helping our small businesses and farmers weather skyrocketing gas prices, investing in local law enforcement, restoring SNAP benefits, ending the tariffs, and ending the war. In contrast, while Mike Rogers was in Congress, he repeatedly voted against providing millions to Michigan law enforcement, and voted nine times to deny healthcare for 9/11 first responders. Rogers voted against the ACA (Obamacare) and received over $650,000 from pharmaceutical companies while he advocated for easier access to opioids. Rogers now claims to want the war to end, but he staunchly supported it earlier. He supported the “big beautiful bill” that cut health care for millions, ended SNAP benefits, cut programs for veterans, and supported tax cuts for billionaires without increasing minimum wages. He supported Trump’s tariffs and the detention centers, which are filled with innocent citizens living in barbaric conditions without adequate food and medical care.
The choice is clear. Vote for Abdul El-Sayed.
