To the editor:
Youth for Christ’s supporters say Leland’s students have “already lost nearly a year in a place that was created for them.” That claim deserves scrutiny.
This group met in private homes for years before anyone proposed a clubhouse on North Lake Street. By its own attorney’s account, Youth for Christ suspended activities at the property in October while awaiting a permit, then resumed them in May, after the Planning Commission voted 4-1 to deny it. No student has been barred from prayer, Bible study, or fellowship. The only dispute is one building that doesn’t comply with zoning.
