Leland took ninth in windy, sunny conditions at the MHSAA D4 girls golf state championships Saturday at The Meadows Golf Course (Grand Valley State University).
This is the first time in school history the girls golf program has made the state championships after finishing second at regionals last week.
“Our goal from the beginning of the season was making it to states, so when we got there, I knew that those last two days were gonna be my last matches. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t too stressed on what we shot, but I just wanted to make sure I had fun,” golfer Lillian Connor said. “I’m going to remember the car rides down to the meets and everything, no matter what the score was at the end of the day, we were all laughing in the van and having a good time being able to be out there with all the girls.”
