GAMETIME
For the second time this season, the Lakers (7-2) and Panthers (5-4) meet on the gridiron, and this time the loser's season ends.
Kickoff is tonight at 7 p.m. in an MHSAA D8 district semifinal, and I'll have live updates and photos from start to finish right here on this page.
The Lakers won the first meeting, 33-0, back on Oct. 9.
Glen Lake enters the playoffs as one of the hottest teams around — after a 2-2 start, the Lakers reeled off five straight wins, capped by three consecutive shutouts over Frankfort, Benzie Central and Tawas, and shared the Northern Michigan Football Conference title with Harbor Springs and East Jordan.
Frankfort opened the season 5-1 before dropping its final three games — all to playoff teams in Glen Lake, East Jordan and Oscoda. Now the Panthers get a rematch on their own terms, with a playoff upset and an extended season on the line.
The stakes reach beyond tonight: the winner will most likely travel to Bark River Harris (7-2) next Friday (Nov. 6) while the Broncos host L'Anse (4-5) this weekend. Elsewhere in the bracket, Beal City (9-0) hosts Beaverton (4-4), while Iron Mountain (7-2) and East Jordan (7-2) square off, with the district winners advancing to the regional finals.
Follow along here all night for live scoring updates, highlights and photos from the game starting at 7 p.m.
