Norsemen upset bid falls short

Suttons Bay boys basketball gave everything they had against first-place Benzie Central during a Northwest Conference basketball game on Tuesday.

The Norse had Benzie reeling for most of the night. Suttons Bay led 14-13 after the first quarter and fell behind only three points going into the second half (26-23).

Benzie had to fend off a feisty Suttons Bay squad in the third quarter, before capturing momentum in the fourth to win 77-53.

Suttons Bay was led by Tyler Porter with 12 points, six rebounds, followed by Grayson Opie with 12 points, 8 rebounds. Urijah TwoCrow also contributed nine points and four steals.

Other basketball scores: Eagles fall to Elks

Lake Leelanau St. Mary boys basketball lost to Elk Rapids 72-28 on Tuesday. Jerry Schaub had 12 points, and Luke Bramer 6 points.

Frankfort defeated Leland 63-34.
