League of Women Voters of Leelanau County will host a free, public zoom webinar on March 6 to discuss the gender pay gap.
In 2024, the gender pay gap still exists. Michigan ranks 37th among states, with women making 22 cents less per dollar earned by men. When applied to median annual earnings, this means women earn $11,675 less per year.
Strong pay equity laws help close the pay gap, but other factors affect the wage difference, including occupational segregation, discrimination and workers’ parental status.
