Carla Jaeger Sedgwick, 93, passed away peacefully on April 20th, 2024. She was born on November 10th, 1930 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Martha Kingsbury and Alfred “Moss” Jaeger, and was a beloved sister to Jerry Jaeger and Kathryn (Max) Smith. Carla attended Oak Park High School, William Woods College, and graduated from Drake University where she was an active member of Delta Gamma and became a dedicated member of the PEO Sisterhood. Both organizations brought her great joy and treasured lifelong friendships.

She married the love of her life, James Arthur Sedgwick, on December 28th, 1955, and moved to St. Louis, Missouri. They were blessed with four daughters, Kathryn (Mitch) Moran, Karen (Webb) Kane, Susan (Gary) Hosking, and Sarah (F. Ward) Nixon. Carla found her greatest joy and fulfillment in life when spending time with Jim, “the girls,” and their families.

She was lovingly known as “Carly” to her grandchildren, Matt (Caroline) Moran, Ryan Moran, Webb (Helen) Kane, Kristen (Matt) Knox, Maggie (Trevor) Gillentine, Grant Hosking, Jessie (Ryan) Phillips, Will Hosking, Julia Nixon, Audrey Nixon, and George Nixon, along with her 10 great-grandchildren. Carla was a devoted homemaker, avid reader, talented gardener, active volunteer, and a trusted friend to many over the years. Carla will be dearly missed by her family and friends and will remain forever in their hearts. This summer, her family will lay her to rest next to her beloved husband of 57 years along the lakeshore in Leland, Michigan.
