DAVID L. MARTZ JR.

MAPLE CITY – David Leon Martz Jr., 76, of Maple City passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.

David was born February 28, 1947 in Royal Oak, MI the son of David and Elizabeth (Simpson) Martz. On August 28, 1970 at St. Rita’s Catholic Church of Maple City he married Vincenza “Virginia” (Muro) Martz who survives. David served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and saw service in Vietnam. He was a quiet and reserved man. 30 years ago, David and Virginia purchased the Novotny Farm in Cleveland Township. It was a place he loved and treasured. The same love was put into the care of those who reside there as Virginia and David own and operate Lakeview Estates Assisted Living. David also greatly treasured nature, all animals, and especially his dogs.

David is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Vincenza; his children, John Martz, and Scott (Shauna) Martz. He was preceded in death by his parents. The mass will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1 at the Holy Rosary Church of Cedar. Burial in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens will follow the service at 10:00 a.m. Father Donald Libby will serve as celebrant.
