Glen A. King

Glen was born on September 18, 1932, to the late Dominic and Louise (Lautner) King in Traverse City, where he spent his entire life rooted in faith, family, and community.
On October 12, 1957, Glen married the love of his life, Frances Witkowski, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Cedar, Michigan. He constructed their family home, where they remained lifelong residence of Old Mission Peninsula. They shared a beautiful partnership until Frances’ passing in August of 2020.
Glen honorably served his country in the United States Army as an Infantry Sergeant. This was an experience that shaped his sense of duty and patriotism. He was a lifelong and devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church since 1957, where he formed many cherished friendships. Glen was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as both Grand Knight and a past Faithful Navigator, embodying their values of charity, unity, and fraternity. A hardworking and dedicated individual, Glen began his career at the Sandwich Grill before spending over 30 years at Cone Drive, where he earned the admiration of colleagues through his commitment and integrity.
Glen was very active, he was an avid bowler playing as recently as 2024, he loved fishing, maintaining his family inherited vehicles as well as his properties, listening and dancing to polka music as well as taking pride in his detailed lawn.
Glen was known for his kind heart, warm personality, and unwavering dedication to those around him. He was deeply 1957 ~ 2024
loved by his family and community.
He is survived by his beloved daughters Lorraine (David) McPherson and Lynndell Drzewiecki, grandchildren Josh King, Casey (Martin) Baldwin, Kristie (Paul) Scheidemantel, and Katie (Mike) Brady. Also surviving are greatgrandchildren; Alex, Ava, Miles, Leyna, Evie and Mara and countless friends whose lives he touched.
Glen was greeted in heaven by his wife Frances, his parents Dominic and Louise King, his two brothers, Gene King and Gary King, and many other loving family members and friends.
Friends are welcome to visit with Glen’s family on Monday, December 9, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, Michigan 49684. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 308 N. Cedar St., Traverse City, Michigan 49684. Burial will take place at the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
Military Honors will take place under the auspices of the U.S. Army, Cherryland V.F.W. post 2780 and American Legion post 35.
