Joan A. Skipski

Joan A. Skipski

Joan A. Skipski, 87, of Maple City, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at her home. Joan was born on March 14, 1937 in Williamsburg, Michigan to the late John and Florence (Carr) Baggs. She married the love of her life, Roman Skipski on July 9, 1955.

Together they shared 55 wonderful years. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2011. Joan was a proud and wonderful homemaker as well as mother figure to many. She was very talented and loved baking cookies and banana bread to share with family and friends. There was one exception, this was the time when she forgot to put oatmeal in her famous oatmeal cookies. She was always up for an adventure and loved spending time with her family and her favorite brother-in-law, Stanley Garvin. She held a special place in her heart for, Ila, her great-granddaughter. Joan was a faithful member of St. Rita-St. Joseph Catholic Church and spent many years volunteering at the church and helping with the Men’s Club events.

Joan is survived by four daughters and a son; Barbara Lee (Richard Bostwick), Carolyn Morrissey, Elaine Bulter (Kevin), Becky Skipski-Adams (David) and Timothy Skipski. Also surviving are a sister, Nancy Rozumny, four grandchildren; Zachary Adams, Jamie Lee, Michael Morrissey and Megan Morrissey (Jesus Miguel) as well as four greatgrandchildren; Scarlett, Avery, Jack Shafer and “baby” Ila Miguel.

She was preceded in death by six siblings; Dick Baggs, Tom Baggs (Marylou), Jerry Baggs, Vern Baggs, Maxine Bolton ( Jack), and Gene Baggs.

Joan spent many hours laughing and drinking wine with her special lady friends.

Mom hid crumpled up one-dollar bills all around her house for us to find, she enjoyed having the last laugh.
