David married Barbara Ann Katke of Big Rapids, Michigan in 1957 at First Methodist Church in Big Rapids. They began their life together in a house he built in Cadillac, MI and was soon followed by three children Brenda Lynn, David Marshall, and Sherie Ann.

His career was a Service Engineer for Oldsmobile Division of General Motors. He had an uncanny knowledge of how things worked or not which served him well. After retiring, he and Barbara happily settled in Northport. He built their home on the bay using his practical talents to do carpentry, plumbing, heating, stonework, fine woodworking and landscaping. The next step was building many barns for their Arabian horses.

He had a quiet solid way of thinking with a sprinkle of humor. He enjoyed his Died December 11, 2024

family, cheerful people and many dogs and wouldn’t turn down a good cookie, a cup of coffee, a song and prayer. He had a very strong determination and commitment which showed in everything he did in life. David is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann (Katke), daughters Brenda L. Peterson and Sherie A. Waddell and grandchildren Michael and Christopher Jensen, David Waddell IV, Rachael Waddell and Spencer Triplett.

He was preceded in death by son David M. Waddell III, parents David and Lillian (Fletcher) Waddell and sister Barbara Gail (Waddell) Griffin.

A memorial service will be held to honor his life by immediate family.
