Robert “Bob” Hagerman

Robert “Bob” Hagerman, 94, of Glen Arbor, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.

Bob attended Hamlin University in Minnesota, where he was a member of the swim team, and earned a Master’s Degree from University of Minnesota in Organic Chemistry. He moved to Hemlock, Michigan and began a lifelong career at Dow Chemical until his retirement in 1995. Bob was active in the Jaycees, where he served as president and JCI Senator. After retiring, he and Pat moved to Glen Arbor where Bob found new interests in birding, painting, crosscountry skiing, and canoeing. Bob was an integral part of Inland Seas, serving as first mate, an educator, and helping with anything requiring technical expertise. He continued to create treasures for friends and family of Ukrainian Easter eggs, a hobby he started in the early 90’s. He was an excellent cook, renowned for his spaghetti and meatballs.

Bob was preceded in death by his first wife of 62 years, Patricia Hagerman; son, Bobby Hagerman; parents, Ivan & Inez Hagerman; siblings: John Hagerman, Mary Foster; niece: Susan Foster Beste-Riggs.

He is survived by his wife of eight years, Nancy Hagerman; children: Scott (Susan) Hagerman, Julie (Mark) Forbes; grandchildren: Aimee ( Jason) Fromholz, Shannon (Kelly) Guilbeaux, Joshua (Amy) Guilbeaux, Breanne (Nate) Hubbard, Ryan (Lauren) Forbes; great-grandchildren: Alexis (Dalton), Madison, Payton, Alivia, Preston, Jaxson, Noah, Amalia, Aurora, Cameron; sister-in-law: Kathy (Ernie) Morreim; and nieces and nephews: Dean, Nancy, John, Doug, Carr, Carol, Chris, Andrew.

A memorial service honoring Bob is being planned for August of 2025 in Suttons Bay at the Inland Seas.
