Gerri Ann Brzezinski

Gerri Ann Brzezinski

Gerri Ann Brzezinski, 71, of Cedar passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

Gerri was born on August 3, 1953, in Traverse City to the late Adam and Rae (Dick) Mazurek. As a young lady she attended Holy Rosary Schools and graduated from Glen Lake High School in 1971. She went on to earn her nursing license and dedicated many years to her career as a compassionate and skilled nurse, first in the Munson Medical Center and later at Copper Ridge. Even after semi-retiring in 2015, Gerri continued training new nurses, sharing her expertise and passion for caregiving with the next generation.

On August 28, 1976, she married Frank Michael Brzezinski. Together, they raised three children: Monica, Joshua, and Samantha. Gerri was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, known for her kind heart and selfless spirit.

Gerri was the mom everyone admired and cherished. She was always present at her children’s sporting events, often with a snack bag in hand, and played a vital role in the community by founding the Glen Lake Boosters Club and volunteering at her kids’ schools. The family enjoyed countless camping trips with family and friends, creating cherished memories together.

Gerri had a deep love for gardening, especially her beautiful hanging planters, and found joy in planning sock hops for Holy Rosary School, baking, and holiday traditions. Her cheesecakes, sweets, and candies were legendary among family and friends. She remembered every birthday and anniversary, ensuring everyone in her life felt special and loved.

After retirement, Gerri and Frank spent time in Lakeland, Florida, where she loved relaxing by the pool and reading. Her grandchildren fondly called Solon Beach “Grandma’s Beach,” a place where she created lasting memories with each of them.

Gerri was deeply loved by her family and all who knew her. She will be missed beyond measure, but her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Gerri is survived by her loving husband Frank of 48 devoted years, her children, Monica Bright, Joshua Brzezinski, Samantha (Aaron) Bushy, 9 grandchildren, Mason (Hannah) Bright, Isaac Bright, Hunter Bright, Wladzio Brzezinski, Amelia Brzezinski, Abagail Brzezinski, Frankie Brzezinski, El Bushy and Zachary Bushy, her siblings, Gary (Cheryl) Mazurek, Barry (Barb) Mazurek, and so many other loving family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Jean (Paul) Galla.
