BINGHAM TOWNSHIP – Helena Lucille Send, 93, of Bingham Township, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the Northport Highlands.
Helena was born on August 31, 1931, on the family farm on Lee Point to Ivan and Mary (Rader) Livingston. On March 11, 1950, she married Edward A. Send, with whom she shared 56 years of love and dedication until his passing on October 21, 2006.
Together, Helena and Ed worked tirelessly on their family farm, cultivating cherries, prunes, and damsons. Helena was a talented knitter and crocheter, finding joy in creating handmade pieces for those she loved. She was also known for her warm hospitality, bringing her family together with her delicious home-cooked Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. One of her most beloved traditions was making Santa cookies for her grandchildren—a simple treat that became a cherished family staple for the next 31 years.
Helena is survived by her sons, Edward and Mark (Esther) Send; her grandchildren, Kelli (Jason) Schultz, Andrew (Melissa) Send, and Trisha (Buddy) Kurjiaka; and her greatgrandchildren, Kevin, Rachel, Blake, Mary Schultz, and Ben Kurjiaka. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Edward; and her siblings, Ivan “Bob” Livingston, A. Kathleen Livingston, and Irvin (Evelyn) Livingston.
A visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, at the Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay.
