Joan was born on October 17, 1928, in Kasson Township, the daughter of Andrew and Agnes (Riss) Bumgardner. On June 27, 1947, in Leland, she married the love of her life, Elmer Ernest Everson, who preceded her in death on May 4, 2004.

Joan worked for Sears for over 20 years and was known for her warm and friendly nature. She loved playing cards, with Euchre being her favorite game, and enjoyed trips to the casino. She cherished the friendships she made at the Friendship Community Center in Suttons Bay and was always the life of the gathering. Joan was a woman of strong conviction, never afraid to voice her opinion, and was affectionately known as the unofficial “Mayor” of MediLodge. She was wellloved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.

Joan is survived by her brother, John 1928 ~ 2025

Bumgardner; and her nephews, Richard (Joan) Bumgardner, Jonathan Bumgardner, Tom (Shannon) Bumgardner, and Donald Bumgardner; and ten great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 56 years, Elmer E. Everson.

The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the Munson Hospice team for their compassionate care and support for Joan.
