William A. Plamondon

William A. Plamondon

William A. Plamondon, age 87, passed away on April 6, 2025. Born Aug. 2, 1937, Bill (also known as BP), proudly served in the US Army for four years, from 1955 to 1959, enlisting at the age of 17. He served 16 months in Korea as a munitions expert. Bill was a true jack of all trades and a man of many talents. He moved from Ludington to his Lake Leelanau farm in 1972, where he completely remodeled the property. He worked in construction before becoming an orchardist and cherry farmer. Throughout his life, he had a deep love for horses, working as a farrier and horse trainer in addition to riding and driving them using his custom built horsedrawn carriages and sleighs. He joined the Michigan Trail Riders Association in the 1960s and even embarked on a solo horseback winter camping trip across Michigan with a pack horse.

He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Muma, whom he met on a MTRA trail ride and spent 35 years together in Lake Leelanau at the farm; his daughter, Leslie Berndt of Mantua, Utah; his son, Russell (Stacey) Plamondon of Cloverdale, Ind.; Sheryl’s children Greg Muma (Kim) and Laura Muma; his granddaughters, Clara Plamondon of Greencastle, Ind. and Paige Plamondon of Bozeman, Mont.; his great-granddaughter, Wren Hanlon of Greencastle, Ind.; his siblings, Gladys ( Jim) Hoogterp of Grand Rapids, Mich., John (Janis) of Lake Leelanau, Grace Kolarik ( Julius) of Northport; and several nieces and nephews.

No services are planned at his request.

A celebration of life for family will take place later on.
