NORTHPORT- Carl Eugene Baumberger, 77, of Northport, passed away on January 20, 2024, in Traverse City. He was born on March 6, 1946, to Noel and Marie (Caine) Baumberger in Traverse City, Michigan.

Carl graduated from Northport High School in 1966. On January 15, 1966, at Trinity Church of the United Church of Christ in Northport, he married the love of his life, Janet M. (Carew) Baumberger, who survives.

A proud veteran, Carl served his nation in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he worked on the family Baumberger farm with his father and brother until it sold. After that, he became a skilled & versatile tradesman, working in welding, machine sales and an impressive 28 years on small engines and appliance repairs at Sears. After his retirement, he continued to work on repairing small engines and appliances in his own shop. Friends and neighbors often sought out his skilled knowledge.

Beyond his talents, Carl was beloved for his sense of humor, kindness, and gentle nature. He had a knack for sharing the best hugs, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him. Carl was a very committed father and grandfather. From frog hunting, rides in the “old bumpy truck”, to camping trips, pillow and wrapping paper fights, the best toy truck/tractor noise ever made, and attending every kids and grandkids sporting events.

Carl is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Janet Marie Baumberger; his children, Bonnie (Todd) Huck, Brian (Michelle) Baumberger, and Amanda (Tony) Brown; his siblings, Frederick ( Janice) Baumberger, Karen Nickerson, Ann (Ronald) George; his grandchildren Autumn, Austin, Tanner, Mason, Emma, and Xander; as well as one greatgrandchild on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Richard Baumberger, his sister Norma Jean Baumberger, and his brotherin- law Sterling Nickerson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 12:00 P.M at Trinity Church, United Church of Christ. The family will greet friends from 11:00 A.M before the start of the service. Carl will be buried in Leelanau Township Cemetery at a later date.

In the tapestry of life, Carl’s legacy of hard work, humor, and love will forever be woven into the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in eternal peace.
