Thelma Burfiend Dennis

Thelma graduated in 1952 from Maple City School in Maple City, MI. On March 16, 1957, Thelma married Peter Carsten Burfiend. Peter preceded her in death in 1972. She then married Jack Dennis on September 10, 1977. Jack preceded her in death on June 27, 2004. Thelma was a bus driver for many years in both Michigan and Wisconsin. She was a playground monitor as well. Thelma was part of the women’s group at the United Methodist Church in Angelica.
Thelma enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, crafting, and ceramics. She also enjoyed traveling; especially going south for the winters. Most of all she loved all her pets over the years.
Survivors include her three children: Howard (Pam) Burfiend, Ruth Corby, and Marcia (Mark) Williams; three stepchildren: Keith Dennis, Jackie Engel, and Val Eimers; grandchildren: Jessica (Joe) Lang, Jacob (Sarah) Burfiend, Dawn (Mark) Ullmer, Jack (Lezlie) Corby, Alyssa (Mark) Becker, DJ (Tiffany) Norwood, Jason (Kathi) Williams, Jon Williams, and Jeramie (Cleo) Williams. She is further survived by 28 great- grandchildren; two great-greatgrandchildren; two sisters: Janet (Carl) Zywicki and Grace (Ralph) Baum; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In addition to her husbands, Peter and Jack she was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Ruth; a grandson, Steven Corby; two brothers: Bob Smith and Arnold Smith; three sisters: Sandra Svec, Terry Elsenhiemer, and Yvonne Linsenmayer; and her lifelong friend, Nancy Lanham.
Per Thelma’s wishes, no services will be held.
The family would like to thank the staff at Rennes Rehab and the Unity Hospice Team for the excellent care given to Thelma. They would also like to thank Thelma’s good friend Jane Kleist for being there for her.
