LAKE LEELANAU- Charles Arthur Zeits, 71, of Lake Leelanau, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, surrounded by his family.
Charles was born on January 20, 1954, in Traverse City, the son of Charles and Dorothy (Gauthier) Zeits. On March 21, 1989, in Mendham, New Jersey, he married his loving wife and best friend Jackie A. MacAllister, who survives.
Charles / Chip lived almost all of his life on the families 100+ year old farm. He loved nothing more than to be on his tractor except when snow came. Chip was very proud of the work that he did for the National Park Service at Sleeping Bear Dunes and several other locations specifically the historical restoration work that he did. One project he was especially proud of was the painting of the light house on South Manitou Island. Later he went on to work at Munson Medical center. Chip will be remembered by family and friends for his sense of humor and stoic nature, and love of nature Charles is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Jackie; his son Alexander Zeits (Andee Hall); and his grandchildren, Joshua and Savannah Zeits, Anya Hall and Lyanna Zimmerman; and his nephews, Tony and Todd Zeits.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Hugh ( Jean) Zeits and Arnold (Barbara) Zeits.
