Leland– Elizabeth “Dee” Delores Glass, 87, of Leland, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Medilodge of Leelanau surrounded by her loving family.

Elizabeth was born on June 8, 1938, in Lee County, Virginia to Gaylord and Myrtle (Wallen) Rasnic. She married Larry Edward Glass in Beaver Creek, Ohio on September 14th, 1956. Thus began a life dedicated to church, community and family. She was a community visionary who was sensitive to the needs of the people she encountered. Dee was instrumental in the initiation and formation of projects such as: Leland School Booster Club, Leelanau Children’s Center, Gardens of the Village Green, Samaritan’s Closet, and the Leelanau Laundry Project just to name a few.

Dee served as a guardian and advocate for many adults and families in Leelanau County. She had a huge heart and a listening ear, and the ability to organize legions of volunteers who stayed loyal through project after project after project. You know who you are! She lived a life of service and was grateful for those who served with her.

Sowing seeds, planting gardens, and arranging flowers was her love language. Dee was loved by her family and will be deeply missed. Go out into your gardens, you will find her there.

Elizabeth is survived by her four children, Merri Lynn (Paul Peschel) Bouckaert, Laurie (Chris Stone) Glass, Rebecca (Richard) Stearns, and Michael (Kelly) Glass; Sisters: Darlene (Russ) LeBlanc, Died July 18, 2025

and Dinah (David) King; her six grandchildren, Ashley (Joel) Heyboer, Emily (Tony) Matthys, Alisha ( Josh) Childress, Elizabeth (James) Stibich, Caitlin McKee, and Mickayla (Justin) Hayes; Matt and Sarah Peschel; and her greatgrandchildren, Lily, Kyle, Beau, Linden, Maya, Mina, Amara, Harwell, Brynn, and Andi: her sister-in-law Lynn Ellen Stauffer, Nephews; Chip (Dana) Stauffer, Tyler ( Jennifer) Stauffer She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Glass, her parents, her three brothers, Grady, Clinton, Grover “Bud” Rasnic, and her sister, Dorothy, her sonin- law Kirk Bouckaert, her brother-in-law Charles Stauffer, and great grandson Kaleb Edward Hayes.

Her family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Medilodge in Suttons Bay for the loving care given to Dee and “HER gardens” for the past 6 years.

A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, July 25th at the Leland Community United Methodist Church in Leland. The family will visit with friends after the service at a light luncheon.
